The Cyprus University of Technology (CUT) and the Non-Profit Cultural Organization AEI Audiovisual Forum signed a Memorandum of Collaboration on 18 July 2024.
The signing ceremony took place in the Senate Hall, at the Rector’s Building of the CUT in Limassol and was signed on behalf of both parties by the Rector Professor Panagiotis Zafiris, and the Founder and Director of AEI Audiovisual Forum, director Stavros Papageorgiou.
Also present, among others, were Dr. Dia Evagorou, University Officer in the Communication, Promotion, and Internationalization Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Yannis Christidis, President of the Department of Fine Arts, and the Communication Manager of the AEI Audiovisual Forum, George Constantinou.
The Memorandum of Collaboration concerns mainly artistic activities and includes, among others, the organization of the AEI Film Festival 2024, which will take place in Nicosia, from 26 October 2024 to 3 November 2024 and for the first time, at a time to be announced soon, at the premises of the Cyprus University of Technology in Limassol.
It also includes the creation by students of the School of Fine and Applied Arts of CUT of the introductory video for this year’s 7th AEI Film Festival, as well as the hosting of a Masterclass presentation at the Festival by CUT Animation Professor Charalambos Margaritis, on the topic “Animation in Documentary”.
Both the Rector of CUT and the Director of AEI Audiovisual Forum expressed in their greetings at the ceremony, the intention that with the development of this collaboration is strengthened by offering cultural actions and synergies that will contribute to education, especially in film literacy and the dissemination of documentary films, as well as to the general social artistic culture of the people of Cyprus.
The Non-Profit Cultural Organization AEI AUDIOVISUAL FORUM (www.aei-filmfestival.org) was founded in 2019 by the documentary director/documentary producer Stavros Papageorgiou. Its main purpose is to organize cultural and scientific events, such as the AEI Film Festival (International Festival of Archaeological, Ethnographic and Historical Documentary Films of Cyprus) and the educational activity “CINeDUCATION” for secondary school and university students.
