Media Workshops

Within the framework of the mission of the cultural organization A.E.I. AUDIOVISUAL FORUM to train our young people in cultural heritage issues through innovative actions, the educational program SYNeKPAIDEFSI was designed, as part of the Annual AEI Cyprus Film Festival. The program started in 2018 in policy and in collaboration with the UNESCO Corporate Schools Network (ASPnet) Cyprus and which continues uninterrupted until today with great success. Currently, the SYNeKEPAIDEFSI program is aimed at Secondary Education students, University students and youth centers.

The SYNeKPAIDEFI program includes film workshops production of short documentaries by professionals in the field of cinema with the aim of acquiring skills in the field of film production with an emphasis on the documentary genre. As part of the workshops, the participating groups of pupils and students must create a ten-minute documentary on a topic of their choice, which belongs to one of the following three thematic sections: History, Ethnography, Archaeology. In the six years of implementation of the SYNeKPAIDEFI program, approximately 700 secondary school students and 100 students have participated and 60 ten-minute documentaries have been created.

The ten-minute documentaries created by the SYNeKPAIDEFSI program participate in the Educational Department of the AEI Cyprus Film Festival and compete for the following monetary prizes that are awarded by our institutional sponsors: the Cyprus Radiotelevision authority and the Cyprus National Commission for UNESCO.

Three cash prizes from the Cyprus Broadcasting Authority are as follows: 1st prize 500 Euros, 2nd prize 300 Euros and 3rd prize 200 Euros. They are awarded to the three best productions by student groups. 

The special prize of the Cyprus National UNESCO Commission of 400 Euros, is awarded to a documentary created by a student or student group and which presents in the best way a topic from the cultural heritage of Cyprus.
