SYNOPSIS:

The film “Kerynia” is a short documentary that follows my grandparents as they visit their vacation home in Kyrenia, which was occupied during the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974. Through this personal story, the film explores the memories and deep connection to the place that was part of their lives before the war.

ΒΙΟGRAPHY

Maria Yiannouka is a Cypriot filmmaker living in London. She usually focuses on horror films, but this time she did something more personal for her family. Her filmography includes mostly short horror films, as she believes that fear can express truths about society.
