The Turkish invasion and its impact on education in Cyprus

This documentary explores the impact of the invasion on education in Cyprus. It begins with a short flashback to the history of education, that takes you from the period after the establishment of the Ministry of Education to the invasion. The daily difficult school life of enclaved and refugee children is then presented through interviews. The reality of the refugee children’s school life included lessons outside and in tents, but also, the children who were still staying in their occupied villages had to endure harassment by the occupation authorities on a regular basis. Finally, the role of teachers and the challenges they had to face because of the particularly adverse circumstances are presented in this documentary.
