AEI Film Festival
Cyprus Archaeological, Ethnographic & Historical Film Festival
The festival programme for the 7th AEI Film Festival has the following four competition sections:
The Feature Length documentary films competition section (70 to 90 min) where the selected films in this category compete for the following prizes:
Best Documentary Film Award: It will be awarded to the documentary film in this category, that will receive the highest overall score from the Committee.
Best Director Award: It will be awarded to the documentary in this category, that will receive the highest score from the Jury in terms of the directorial approach to the subject it deals with.
Best Photography Award: It will be awarded to the documentary in this category that will receive the highest score from the Jury in terms of the aesthetic value of the image.
For the FEATURE DOCUMENTARY CATEGORY, the jury is composed:
– of the Spanish professor of the Film Department of the University of Seville, Prof. Manuel Blanco Perez
– the Romanian film producer and trainer at LITTLE STARS School of Film and Television for Children, Ms Simona-Ioanna Badea
– and the assistant professor of the Department of Arts and Communications of Frederick University, Panicos Charalambous.
The Medium length documentary films (25 to 60 min) competition section where the selected films in this category compete for the following prizes:
Best Documentary Film Award: It will be awarded to the documentary film in this category, that will receive the highest overall score from the Committee.
Best Director Award: It will be awarded to the documentary in this category, that will receive the highest score from the Jury in terms of the directorial approach to the subject it deals with.
Best Photography Award: It will be awarded to the documentary in this category that will receive the highest score from the Jury in terms of the aesthetic value of the image.
For the MEDIUM DOCUMENTARY CATEGORY, the jury is composed:
– of the Palestinian/Belgian producer, journalist, filmmaker and art social science researche, Hadil Alramli
– Cypriot documentary filmmaker Yeliz Shukri
– and Greek documentary filmmaker and theatre actress Annetta Papathanasiou.
In the short documentary film competition section the selected films in this category compete for the compete for the following prizes:
Best Documentary Film Award: It will be awarded to the documentary film in this category, that will receive the highest overall score from the Committee.
Best Director Award:
It will be awarded to the documentary in this category, that will receive the highest score from the Jury in terms of the directorial approach to the subject it deals with.
Best Photography Award: It will be awarded to the documentary in this category that will receive the highest score from the Jury in terms of the aesthetic value of the image.
For the SHORT DOCUMENTARY CATEGORY, the committee consists:
– of Lecturer and Head of Courses of the BSc Media Production at UCLan Cyprus University Dr. Christiana Varda
– Director of Photography Hector Papageorgiou
– and writer/director Andreas Kyriakou.
This year we introduced a new competition section called NEON CINEMA where short documentary films (5 – 10 min) created by high school students compete for prizes. The jurors for this section will be a group of high school students from Cyprus.
